It's usually the turbo that's shagged, or the oil seals are gone. This is exacerbated if the catalytic converter is removed, because of the loss of back pressure. They say that you can test if the oil seals have gone by leaving the coupe running for five minutes once warm, after this period if you're getting a lot of white-ish smoke, then it's done for.

Often when a turbo fails it will blow smoke constantly. This is not always the case, as if the seals in the turbo are leaking, oil could seep into either the compressor or turbine housings. It may be worth letting the car sit overnight, then the following morning remove an OUYv7P.
