Tips for capturing your first settlement please! As you need it to become a kingdom, so cant raise an army, therefore have limited troops (say130 ish) as nobody will follow you. Playing on realistic and would rather find a way that doesnt involve temporarily dropping the difficulty if possible.
Gang leader has a problem, Security get a +1 boost. Fixing the problem takes that +1 away. Right now, in Argoron, I have gang leader Sovos the Lamb wanting some help fencing stolen goods there. If I check the Security detail, I have Settlement Issues getting a +1 to Security. If I buy the stolen goods, that Settlement Issues +1 goes away. When you are ready and have reached clan tier 4, find your faction leader and enter the Kingdom tab (bottom left corner of the screen). In the upper right part of the menu, you will see a red button that says “Leave Kingdom”. After you select it, click the “Keep all holdings” choice and “Confirm”. Try giving food to the nearest village and see if they transfer it to the castle. You can also go to manage castle and change the daily activity to irrigation for +1 food production. I also think there are stuff you can build to increase this. Some castles are buggy in that they actually have the map of cities.
So I suggest to get your first castle or city I'd join a faction, and help an army in a siege. Usually (but not always) that faction will give you the first location you help take in a siege battle as your first fief. Otherwise if you're going it alone, you want to out number the enemy defendants at least 2-1, And if you're having issues with

If you cant pass those, then install a governor who is if the same culture as the city, then run festival and games for daily loyalty until above 30 loyalty. Then you can start building stuff. 3. r/Bannerlord. Having that fief and being boss. But you don't get to be boss without putting in the work. It's hard to put in the work when the garrison can be 3x larger than your own army and you can't call your companion's armies to come support you until you're ALREADY a lord. Also a castle shouldn't be considered a "settlement". That's very confusing.

But you get a herd penalty if you have too many animals in the party. It may have changed in a patch but most people used to say a riding unit can handle 1 extra animal and a foot unit can handle 2 animals before you start to get a penalty. You just have to experiment with how much you want to carry and the ideal speed you want.
